Best of Japan
November 3, 2024 - November 17, 2024
I am very happy with the tour, accommodation and guides. I wish I\'d added in more days to do the few things I\'d have liked to seen which weren;\'t included in the itinerary, but will do those next time
Itinerary
Great mix of things to see and the right amount of time in each as a taster (as the title of the tour suggests!) I chose this tour for the unique experience of meeting a Maiko & the Monastery stay, which most tour operators do not include, but I\'d liked to have had a garden included (such as Kenrokuen) but it included most things I wanted to see
Lodging
Fab mix of smaller run hotels/ryokans for a more personal experience compared with big hotels. (Big hotels were ok but a bit fancy/impersonal/bland but useful location wise)
Food
As a vegetarian it was incredibly difficult to find suitable food in general in Japan, but the guides did a great job in finding places for us and the ryokans/smaller hotels did a brilliant job in accommodating our needs. Two guides even gave us cards showing in English & Japanese what we do and dont eat so we could show it to people when buying food on our own. So thoughtful
Guides
Our guides in Tokyo, HIroshima, Koya San and Kyoto were fantastic. Knowledgeable, organised, clear & caring. Attention to detail was impecible
Pre-Tour Handbook
It was all there!
Tour Organization
Very well thought out
Tour Transportation
Very well thought out with tickets for trains pre-purchased and provision of ICOCA card was a great idea. Also I loved that we travelled on Bullet train, express train, fenicular, cable car/ropeway, boat, metro
